Welcome to our latest post all about the Oil Painting of Toby. It’s always such a joy when returning clients get in touch, and we were so happy to hear from Debbie and Neil again. Especially as we’d previously painted their much-loved Jack Russell, Wilson.
This time, they wanted to commission a portrait of their other Jack Russell, Toby, to hang proudly beside Wilson’s. Debbie sent over a favourite photo of Toby. It was taken very close to the same spot as Wilson’s. We felt that was a lovely connection between the two portraits. The photo showed off Toby’s markings beautifully, and although he had a small injury on his back foot. Nicholas was able to paint around it and present him at his very best.
Oil Painting Size
We initially planned for a 12 x 10 oil painting to match Wilson’s, but after reviewing the composition and space, we agreed a slightly larger 16 x 12 canvas would suit Toby’s pose better. We still offered the smaller size price, just to keep everything within budget for Debbie and Neil.
Once we sent over the final image, Debbie wrote:
“We are over the moon with it, thank you. We look forward to receiving the finished framed version.”
When the painting arrived safely with them, we were so touched to receive another lovely message:
“As you say, we agree it is much better in real life — stunning, in fact. Thank you so much.”
They planned to have a plaque fitted just like Wilson’s. We were delighted when Neil sent over a photo of him holding Toby’s portrait. Such a lovely moment and a joy to see the finished piece in their home.
Debbie also asked if she could order a print of Toby’s portrait as a Father’s Day gift, just as she’d done for Wilson. We sent over a high-res version of the artwork. This enabled Debbie to take the copy of the painting to a the print shop or order online. We sent over a link to a recommended printers. It’s always such a privilege to know that these portraits mean so much to our clients and their families.
