French Bulldog Pencil Portrait Of Memphis

Welcome to my latest blog post of a French Bulldog pencil portrait of Memphis. I am so pleased to share my portrait as I thoroughly enjoyed working on it. It was the perfect size, perfect photo and absolutely lovely clients too! The drawing is of Memphis who is a French Bulldog, drawn for client Amber Fleming, in the United States. Amber commissioned the portrait as a Christmas gift for a friend whose dog, Memphis, is very much loved – and proudly sports a Tiffany & Co. collar!

Amber contacted us with a single photo of Memphis and asked for advice on whether a head study or full body would work best. In the end, we all agreed that a 14 x 11 inch head and chest study would highlight Memphis’s features and signature expression. And show off that special collar too.

I drew the portrait in graphite pencil on Italian paper, taking time to build up my layers and tones gradually to create the three dimensional form of Memphis. He has a strong head and strong features so everything needed to be solid.

Amber sent us some photos once the portrait was unwrapped and wrote..

“Our friends loved the gift and kept talking about how talented you are. My husband and I have three dogs ourselves and are already talking about getting portraits of them.”

It means the world to us when a gift creates such a special reaction — and even better when it inspires new ideas for more portraits to come.

A Touch of Luxury – Tiffany & Co. Dog Collars

Memphis’s portrait features her Tiffany & Co. dog collar — a detail her owner is particularly proud of. These iconic collars, in the brand’s signature Tiffany blue, are crafted from high-quality Italian leather with elegant silver hardware. It’s not just a stylish accessory, but a beautiful nod to the love we share for our pets – Tiffany & Co. dog accessories. I do believe Lily should have one!!!

French Bulldog Pencil Portrait Framed

We photographed Memphis’s portrait to show how beautifully it looks when framed. The double mount enhances the drawing, while the dark outer mount adds contrast. It’s always exciting to see a portrait come to life all completed and framed.

Amber kindly sent us these amazing photos after the portrait arrived. Memphis posed proudly next to her framed drawing, and I couldn’t love it more! Seeing my portraits displayed especially with the pet always brings a smile to my face. I am so grateful to Amber and her friends for sharing this special moment with me.
