Cat Drawings for McAdams Pet Food

Welcome to my two Cat Drawings for McAdams Pet Food. I was contacted by McAdams company recently to draw two cats for packing. They needed to drawn to a particular size and in the style of their current artist. Their artist was away on holiday and they needed two drawings created as soon as possible for deadline.

Deadlines are the biggest thing with publishing work, they always want artwork yesterday!! I initially said that I was unable to do it. They had given me a window of 7 days to complete both portraits in. I always have a waiting list and work on a first come first serviced basis. Plus we were in the middle of renovations and chaos in the cottage. I felt that I was unable to spare the extra time in the studio. So I emailed a reply and wished them well. I said that it would be a wonderful opportunity for another artist, however I was unable to under take the commission at such short notice.

A few days went by and we had a telephone call to the studio which Nicholas answered. He was unsure why they were calling again. However! The company had been looking around the internet at pencil portrait artist during that time. They just hadn’t found anyone that could either fit the bill or complete the drawings in time and really wanted me to do it. They gave me an offer I just could not refuse! So I did 7 days of overtime to complete the drawings for them!

When creating the illustration, I aimed to match the style of the existing artwork used on McAdams packaging while still staying true to my detailed approach. The other artist’s drawing style is slightly looser than mine, but I feel I was able to complement it well, ensuring a cohesive look across the range. I always love the challenge of adapting my pencil cat drawings to different artistic briefs, and this project was a fantastic opportunity for me and I can’t wait to see the packaging in pet shops and online!

I’m thrilled to share an exciting update to this project. My cat illustration is now featured on McAdams pet food packaging! Seeing my artwork come to life on their beautifully designed products is such a proud moment and I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out.

Working with McAdams Pet Foods was an absolute pleasure. Their commitment to high-quality, ethically sourced pet food aligns perfectly with my love for animals, and it was wonderful to be part of a project that puts pets first. As an artist specializing in pet portraits, capturing the essence of a cat’s character in a way that resonates with pet owners was incredibly rewarding.
