Welcome to our latest cat portrait – oil painting of Saffie. We are delighted to share this beautiful oil painting of Saffie, commissioned by a returning client as a surprise birthday gift for their daughter. We first worked with Ruth and her family back in 2008 when we painted a portrait of their rabbits. So it was a real pleasure to hear from them again. Also to be able to work with them on another portrait.
Saffie, with her striking blue eyes, made a wonderful subject for an oil painting. Our client sent a lovely selection of photos. After a good catchup chat over the phone and then a few emails, we chose the perfect one to work from. It captured not only her unique colouring, especially the cream tones underneath, but also her expressive personality.
Nicholas painted Saffie on a 12 x 10 inch canvas, keeping the background soft and warm to allow her colours and features to shine. You can see the finished painting below.

When the Cat Portrait – Oil Painting of Saffie was completed I took the opportunity to take photos of Nicholas with the portrait in the sunshine outside of our studio.
Here are a few photos of the portrait framed.
The painting was a birthday surprise for Ruth’s daughter. We were so happy to hear that it went down incredibly well. Our client told us “She absolutely loves the painting — and the subject!”. Also that it had already taken pride of place on her bedroom wall.
They also added, “Many thanks to you both again, and especially for fitting us in. Very much appreciated. Until the next pet…”. It’s always so special to work with returning clients and to see how their families (and pets!) grow over time.
