German Shepherd Oil Portrait of Lucie

Welcome to our latest German Shepherd oil portrait of Lucie traditionally hand painted by Nicholas Beall. I am so pleased to be able to share this beautiful oil portrait of Lucie that Nicholas painted. She is a much-loved German Shepherd who sadly passed away recently. Her owner, Jon, reached out to us after finding our website. He said he had been looking for a skilled artist to create a special portrait in her memory and found our work which he felt would be perfect for his requirements.

Jon initially considered a 16 x 12 inch portrait but, after looking at the space on their wall, felt it might be a little too small. We discussed options and agreed that 20 x 16 inches would suit Lucie’s composition and presence far better. Giving her portrait the scale and impact it deserved.

He also had a few great questions about the design. We talked through background options and decided on a soft, neutral blend that wouldn’t compete with Lucie’s lovely features. He asked whether to include her collar, and like many of our clients, chose to keep it in. Being a familiar and personal detail that adds to the portrait’s authenticity. We also flipped her pose so she looked to the right, creating a calmer, more peaceful composition that worked perfectly for their space.

Nicholas painted Lucie’s portrait in oils on canvas, capturing her expression with warmth and realism. Also her glossy coat, alert ears and happy, relaxed expression all shine through. It’s one of those portraits that really draws you in. Jon was absolutely delighted with the final result and said, “This looks absolutely fantastic! Thank you so much for the great work and the attention to detail. I can’t wait to see it in person. No edits needed at all.”

Happy Client!

We loved creating Lucie’s portrait and feel honoured to help keep her memory alive through our work. Jon sent this amazing email when he received the painting. We are just over the moon to read it and thank you Jon for allowing us to share it on our blog.

Everything about this portrait is fantastic. Far above my expectations. The frame is amazing, size is great, just exactly what I was looking for.

The impact on my wife was immediate, big, gushing tears. “I feel like she’s right here with me.” I catch her just staring at it every day. They were so close, this has really helped in a variety of ways. Thank you so much. The small touches really do it, there are whiskers that we both remember that you captured. The various textures were perfect.

You are amazing. You made the end to end process simple, provided great updates, and the final product…wow. You really are a marquis operation.

Personally, thank you. This has helped both my wife and I more than I could have ever imagined. It’s with a heavy heart that you will get my repeat business.

I’m just lacking the right words for the impact that this has had on our family. Most satisfied customer. I thought I was buying art, but got much more.
