Welcome to my latest blog post about Hugo’s Pencil Portrait Commission from Australia, featuring a very special dog called Hugo. From the beginning, I could tell how loved Hugo was and how much this portrait would mean to her and her family. We corresponded via WhatsApp and Marissa gave helpful feedback at every stage. Marissa wanted Hugo’s portrait to truly reflect the personality and character she remembered.

As the drawing developed, Marissa asked for a few subtle changes to the eyes to bring out Hugo’s gentle soul. She was incredibly gracious and trusting throughout, allowing me time to adjust the portrait carefully. We exchanged messages and updates, during what turned out to be a very difficult time for her personally. Marissa messaged…
“The portrait is beautiful and made me cry looking at it, which I guess is a sign I can see my angel in it.”

Happy Clients
For me, pet portraiture is never just about likeness. It’s about connecting the drawing with the individual subject and creating that connection with the owner. Marissa wrote to tell me it had arrived and would soon be displayed in her home in a very special place. It means the world to me to know he is now back where he belongs.
Hi Melanie,
I received your drawing yesterday and it’s absolutely beautiful ❤️ I can’t thank you enough. Now I just need to find a very special place for him in my home! Thanks again for your beautiful work. Have a lovely weekend xx
Marissa

Sending Portraits to Australia
If you are considering a pencil drawing of your dog, especially if you’re overseas like Marissa, I’m always happy to work with you to create something beautiful. I regularly post artwork internationally and make sure everything is packed with great care. Portraits usually take a little longer to get to Australia, perhaps cost a little more in postage… but they are always well worth the wait.
