Welcome to Melanie’s September News Splash and you have caught us in full work mode in the studio! Nicholas has completed a beautiful horse portrait and I have created a pencil drawing of a border collie called Wilson. So we haven’t really got up to much and haven’t even really been anywhere.
We have though had our lovely decorator in called Vince. I had a week helping out too! We have been meaning to paint inside the cottage for the last 5 years. Particularly since we had the roof done and the new Velux windows in. We just hadn’t managed to get time to paint the ceilings where they had plastered around the windows. It was one of those jobs where we said, we will do that in the spring. We will do that next month.. but it never happened. Hence why we enlisted the help of Vince and it was so much quicker and easier with a professional! Not that we aren’t professional painters… just of a different kind!
Painting The Cottage
This is Vince, we sometimes run together at run club and on the weekends. Although I haven’t done a lot of running this year due to all the cottage and garden renovations. He is an excellent painter and decorator and was really fun to work with.
Lily was quite excited at the start of the week, to know what was going on, all the comings and goings. She was the chief helper… or perhaps the chief hindrance!
She soon got tired of all the excitement though and seemed to be sleeping on the job. And yes she did keep walking past the paint pots and newly painted walls and yes she did get covered in paint!
As you can see she is sporting her newly painted coat. She is also keeping a close eye on the biscuit tin.. even though her head is not facing it. Believe me she knows it’s there….!
The proof as to how she got her painted coat is below. All she had to do was to sit down next to the paint pots and her long fur just rested in the buckets….
Earlier this year, you may remember that we painted the outside of the cottage, but weren’t able to paint the chimneys. So Vince very kindly got up there and painted them for us! Here he is right at the top!! It was a very successful week and we have finally got everything back to how it should be and can’t thank him enough for everything he did for us that week.
Girls night out…
And finally a couple of friends and I went to Aberaeron for Tapas and cocktails. I just had to show this photo of the desert we had. Chocolate, strawberry and honeycomb sundae. Delicious!
I hope that you have enjoyed our short Melanie’s September News Splash. We will have a longer blog post in October as we will reveal our final renovation of the year. It’s not quite complete yet, so stay tuned for October’s blog news! If you missed last months, head over to August Apologies to find out what that was all about! Keep well and safe! See you next time!
