I’m trying to catch up on the blog with portraits that we have painted or drawn over the last year. I realised that we hadn’t posted about the beautiful horse portrait in oils of Jessica and Logan which Nicholas hand painted for them. We received a lovely email from Janice in 2023 enquiring about commissioning a portrait and she wrote the following….
Our grandson will be married on June 17, 2023 and as a wedding gift we would like to present the couple with a painting of his fiancé and her horse. I have been on your website and believe you are the perfect choice for our gift.
Nicholas was delighted to be able to create a portrait of Jessica and Logan for the family. We also completed the painting in time for the wedding. Jessica knew about the portrait as she got in touch with photos she would like us to use as the basis of the painting. Jessica had worked with a professional photographer and we luckily had access to the entire photoshoot. From that point onwards Jessica wasn’t allowed to see any progress photos or final photos of the portrait. We made sure it was a complete surprise! We worked closely with Janice to make sure the composition of the painting was perfect, removing a few distractions from the background, allowing full focus on the subjects.
As you can see the painting depicts the bride, Jessica, looking up adoringly at her horse. You can see the absolute love she has for Logan and it comes through in the painting beautifully.
Oil Horse Portrait of Jessica and Logan Happy Clients
Janice wrote a lovely email when she saw the painting which I have shared below….
Melanie!!!
My heart just drops when I look at the painting. Roy and I are so very pleased with the outcome, it is everything we could hope for. Nicholas has captured the “love” in her eyes for Logan, which is the essence of the painting.
Just Excellent! We are thrilled!
Sincerely, Jan
Janice was able to take a lovely photo and some video of Jessica opening the painting which you can see and play below. We absolutely love receiving videos of the portraits being opened. It really completes the whole pet portrait story for us!
They love it!
Hope you got the video!
Tell Nicholas “There were tears!”.
Video and Photos of the Painting
We also took a video of the painting before it left the studio which you can play below, don’t worry its only short!
Here are a few candid photos of the portrait on the table easel showing the canvas edges painted. Clients let us know if they want the edges of their portrait painted. This is handy if you are going to display the portrait either unframed, or in a box style frame where the frame doesn’t meet the edge of the canvas.
This photo hopefully gives some sense of scale of the oil horse portrait of Jessica and Logan, with Nicholas’ hand and brush against it. The painting was 24 x 18 size canvas which was a perfect size for Jessica and Logan. Also allowing for a fairly involved background too.
And finally, I hope that you have enjoyed reading about the oil horse portrait of Jessica and Logan. if you have a horse that you might like to commission a portrait of please do get in touch. Why not read about another horse portrait Nicholas created of Tilly – Horse Pet Portrait of Tilly. We hope that you enjoy it.
