Welcome to the Horse Oil Painting of Artu. Returning client Gill called our studio to arrange an oil painting of her daughters horse called Artu for her birthday. Bella’s birthday date was fairly close, however we worked fast to get the portrait completed. We sent it to Gill the day before the birthday.
The horse oil painting was traditionally hand painted by Nicholas, using traditional oils on canvas by at 12 x 10 size. Gill, from Henley upon Thames, in Oxfordshire, emailed as soon as the portrait arrived which you can read below. It was whisked away and hidden ready to show their daughter on her special day.
Hi Melanie and Nicholas,
Got it! Everyone happy! Thank you, it looks great.
Horse Oil Painting of Artu – Stages
Here are a few of the stages to the horse painting in oils of Artu. Nicholas worked really hard on the painting and it looked lovely in the studio before sending to our clients. It is a really delicate painting and the colours in the background are so natural and serene.
It’s tricky where white horses are concerned. You cant really have a background that’s too light as the horse wont stand out. Sometimes clients prefer not to have a fully dark background either. It really is personal taste whether clients like that style or not. Also dark background suits some home décors, but not others.
Here Gill requested a fairly light coloured background. We will aways create a mock-up or design for our clients to see. Using the computer, we remove the background in the photo and placing a painted background on of varying colours and tones to see which would work best. We send a selection to our clients so they can have the final choice.
